About the Book
There Are Such People: Poems and Stories from Ukraine That War Couldn’t Silence by Lilia Yermak Even in the deepest darkness, voices find a way to rise. There Are Such People is a moving collection of poetry and true stories from the heart of Ukraine, written and gathered during a time of war.
Combining the author’s original poems with firsthand accounts from civilians, defenders, volunteers, teachers, mothers, and children, this book bears witness to both the sorrow and strength of a people who refuse to be broken. From the hush of bomb shelters to the chaos of evacuations, from handmade meals for soldiers to moments of quiet faith, these pages hold grief, resilience, courage, and love.
